Frequently Asked Questions

Can you help me pick between a few options?

Yes. The right choice usually comes down to the room, the light it gets, how much use the item takes, and your budget.

Tell us:

  • Which room it is for
  • Rough measurements of the space or the wall
  • Whether the room gets strong direct sunlight
  • Whether pets or young children use the space
  • Whether you rent or own
  • Your approximate budget

We will point you to the options that fit, and we will say when a cheaper one is enough.

How do I know something will fit my space?

Check the dimensions on the product page, then mark them out before you order.

  • Use painter’s tape on the floor for rugs, tables, and storage pieces
  • Cut paper to size and tape it to the wall for art, mirrors, and shelves
  • Leave walking room around furniture, not just the footprint
  • For pendant lights, check the drop length as well as the width

Measurements are approximate, so allow a small tolerance either way.

Will the color look like the photos?

Close, but not identical. Screens vary, and so does the light in your room.

Warm bulbs pull colors yellow, north-facing rooms cool them down, and a cream can read as beige on one phone and white on another. Natural materials also vary between batches, which is normal.

If color accuracy matters, tell us what else is in the room and we will describe the undertone in plain terms.

Do I need the most expensive option?

Not usually.

Spend more on the things that take daily use and touch, such as bedding, seating, and rugs in busy rooms. Spend less on decorative pieces you will want to swap in a year.

A more expensive item is not automatically better for your room.

I rent. What should I avoid?

Anything that needs drilling, permanent adhesive, or hardwiring.

Renter-friendly choices include plug-in lamps and sconces, freestanding shelves, leaning mirrors, layered rugs, tension rods, and removable hooks rated for the weight you actually need.

Always test a removable fixing on a small hidden patch first, as some paint finishes lift.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

Add the items to your cart and follow the checkout steps. Before payment is taken, you can review the items, your shipping address, and the available delivery options.

If you are unsure about a choice, contact us before ordering.

Can I change my order after placing it?

Often, if it has not been packed yet.

Contact us as soon as possible with your order number and the change you need. Once an order has been handed to the carrier, we cannot guarantee any change.

Changes that raise or lower the total may require an extra payment or a partial refund.

Can I cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible.

Orders that have not been packed or dispatched can usually be cancelled. Once the order is in transit, treat it as a return instead.

Will I get an order confirmation?

Yes. A confirmation goes to the email address you entered at checkout.

Please check the name, address, items, and quantities, and contact us promptly if anything looks wrong. Check your spam folder before assuming it did not arrive.

Do you offer gift notes or gift wrapping?

Add your request in the order notes at checkout and we will confirm what is possible for that item. Fragile and oversized pieces sometimes cannot be rewrapped safely.

Products and Quality

Do you check items before they ship?

Yes. Every order goes through a short quality-control pass before dispatch.

Depending on the item, that includes:

  • Confirming items, sizes, colors, and quantities
  • Inspecting for chips, cracks, marks, and loose stitching
  • Checking glass, ceramic, and mirrored pieces
  • Testing electrical items such as lamps
  • Confirming shades, cords, inserts, and hardware are included
  • Wrapping fragile items individually and double-boxing where needed

Are care instructions included?

Yes. A care card ships with items that need specific care, and the same information is on the product page.

Following it keeps the item looking right and keeps your warranty intact.

Why does my item look slightly different from the one in the photo?

Because it was made from a natural or handmade material.

Wood grain, stone veining, glaze, weave, and dye lots all vary from piece to piece. This variation is expected and is not a fault. If a difference looks more like damage than variation, send us a photo and we will check.

Shipping and Delivery

How long until my order ships?

Most in-stock orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days.

Oversized items, fragile pieces needing custom packing, made-to-order items, and busy periods may extend that to approximately 3–5 business days.

Processing time is separate from carrier transit time.

How long does delivery take after dispatch?

  • Standard shipping: approximately 3–7 business days
  • Expedited shipping: approximately 2–3 business days where available
  • Oversized or freight items: approximately 5–10 business days

Remote locations and carrier disruptions can add time. These are estimates rather than guaranteed dates.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is calculated at checkout from your location, the package size and weight, and the service you pick. Standard shipping is free on orders over [$49]. Oversized items may carry a handling charge, shown on the product page.

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within the continental United States.

We cannot currently ship to:

  • PO boxes for oversized items
  • APO/FPO addresses
  • Freight-forwarding services
  • Hotels or temporary accommodation
  • Addresses outside the continental United States

Shipping availability is confirmed at checkout.

Will I get tracking information?

Yes, by email once your order is dispatched.

Tracking can take several hours to start showing movement after the label is created, so no update on the first day is normal.

Is a signature required?

Sometimes, for higher-value or oversized deliveries. The carrier’s tracking will normally say if a signature is needed.

What if my package is delayed?

Carrier delays happen around holidays, bad weather, and peak periods.

If tracking has not updated for more than 3 business days, contact us with your order number and tracking number and we will investigate.

Tracking says delivered but I cannot find it. What now?

Check:

  • Around the delivery point, including porches, side doors, and garages
  • With others in your household
  • With neighbors or building management
  • Any carrier delivery photo or notice

Tracking sometimes updates shortly before the package physically arrives, so it is worth checking again later that day. If it is still missing, contact us and we will review the shipment with the carrier.

My order arrived in two boxes. Is something missing?

Probably not. Larger orders often travel in more than one box, and those boxes can arrive on different days. Your shipping email will say if the order was split.

Receiving Your Order

Is anything needed before I can use my item?

Usually a few minutes of setup:

  • Remove all inner packaging, film, corner guards, and ties
  • Fit any shade, finial, bulb, or cushion insert supplied separately
  • Complete light assembly on shelves, side tables, and floor lamps
  • Let folded textiles rest for 24–48 hours so creases drop
  • Air out anything that was vacuum-packed

Do I need to remove anything from inside the item?

Often, yes. Lamps ship with foam blocks inside the base, shades ship with cardboard collars, and glass ships with film on the surface.

Remove all protective material and film before using or plugging in an item. The included instructions identify what has to come off.

My item arrived damaged. What should I do?

  1. Do not try to repair or glue it.
  2. Keep the box and all packaging.
  3. Photograph the shipping box, the inner packaging, and the damaged area.
  4. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number.

We will arrange a replacement, a replacement part, or a return and refund.

Something is missing from my order.

Check the packaging carefully first, including inside the item. Hardware packs are often taped under a shelf, and shades sit inside lamp bases.

If it is still missing, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and the item name.

My new rug is shedding. Is that a fault?

No. New wool and jute rugs shed for the first few weeks. Vacuum lightly without a beater bar and it settles down.

There is a smell from the packaging.

That is normal for vacuum-packed or plastic-wrapped items. Unwrap it and air the item out for a day or two in a ventilated room.

Care and Use

How do I clean my item?

Follow the care card that shipped with it, since materials differ. As a general rule, spot-clean textiles, dust wood and stone with a dry or barely damp cloth, and avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners unless the care card allows them.

If you are not sure, contact us before cleaning. Cleaning damage is not covered by the warranty.

Which bulb should I use in your lamps?

Use a bulb at or below the maximum wattage printed on the lamp or in the instructions. LED bulbs run cooler and are the safer choice for fabric shades.

Fitting a bulb above the stated maximum can damage the lamp and is not covered by the warranty.

Can I use an indoor item outdoors or in a bathroom?

Only if the product page says it is suitable. Moisture and temperature swings damage wood, metal finishes, and textiles quickly, and that damage is not covered.

Do I need a rug pad?

On hard floors, yes. A pad stops slipping, reduces wear, and helps the rug lie flat.

Warranty

How long is the warranty?

Items bought from our store include a 1-year limited warranty starting on the delivery date, covering defects in materials, workmanship, and assembly under normal household use.

Full details are on the Warranty page.

What does it cover?

Eligible issues may include:

  • Seams, stitching, zippers, or fastenings that fail without misuse
  • Joints, legs, or frames that loosen or split under normal load
  • Electrical faults in lamps and similar items
  • Finishes that peel, flake, or lift
  • Glass, ceramic, or mirror pieces with cracks, chips, or internal flaws
  • Weave separation or backing failure in rugs
  • Missing or defective assembly hardware

What is not covered?

Generally, anything outside normal use, including:

  • Normal wear, fading, and pilling
  • Sun, heat, and moisture damage
  • Accidental damage, spills, burns, and candle wax
  • Pet damage
  • Washing against the care instructions
  • Incorrect assembly or unsuitable wall fixings
  • Exceeding a stated weight limit
  • Altered, repainted, or repaired items
  • Consumables such as bulbs, batteries, and candle wicks

See the Warranty page for the complete policy.

Should I keep the original packaging?

We recommend keeping it for the length of the warranty, or at least until you are sure you are keeping the item. It is the safest way to send a fragile piece back.

Returns and Exchanges

What is your return window?

Most items can be returned within [30] days of delivery when unused, in resalable condition, and in the original packaging where possible.

Opened bedding and pillows, custom or personalized items, clearance items, and gift cards usually cannot be returned.

Who pays return shipping?

You do for a change of mind. We do when the item arrived damaged, faulty, incomplete, or not as ordered.

How long do refunds take?

Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within [5–10] business days after we receive and check the return. Original shipping costs are refunded only when the return is our fault.

Should I just send the item back?

Contact us first and wait for return instructions. Many problems are solved with a replacement part, and unapproved shipments can be delayed or refused.

Buying Through Our Amazon Links

Why do some buttons go to Amazon instead of your store?

We sell some products ourselves and recommend others we do not stock. When we do not stock something, the button sends you to the retailer that does.

If you paid on simplycozyhomes.com, it was our sale. If you paid on Amazon, it was theirs.

Who handles shipping, returns, and warranty on those orders?

The retailer does, under their own policy. We cannot see the order, change the address, cancel it, refund it, or send a replacement.

We can still help you identify the manufacturer or product details you need for a claim.

Do I pay more by using your link?

No. The price is the same. We may earn a small commission from the retailer, which costs you nothing and does not change what we recommend.

Why do you not print prices on the site?

Prices at other retailers change constantly, and a hardcoded number goes stale fast. Our buttons send you to the live listing so you always see the current price.

Payments and Privacy

Is my payment information stored on your site?

Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We do not intentionally store full card numbers or card security codes on our own systems.

See our Privacy Policy for details on how information is handled.

Do you sell customer information?

No. We do not sell personal information for money.

Some information is shared with service providers when needed to run the website, take payments, deliver orders, provide support, prevent fraud, or meet legal obligations.

Will you email me constantly if I sign up?

No. The newsletter goes out on a regular, limited schedule, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not stop order and shipping emails.

Still Have Questions?

If your question is not answered here, email info@simplycozyhomes.com or use the Contact page. Include your order number if it relates to a purchase.
